Local Resolutions For a Nuclear Weapons Free Future
Help Us Pass Local Resolutions For a Nuclear Weapons Free Future!
Mass Peace Action, in partnership with the United for Justice with Peace Coalition’s Nuclear Abolition Working Group and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom , is working for the passage of local resolutions in support of a nuclear weapons free world. People around the country are urging city councils and boards of aldermen to pass the resolutions – and we need your help to make this happen in your community!
We have a critical window of opportunity in which to seize upon President Obama’s vision of a nuclear weapons free world and make it a reality. This will not happen without increased public awareness, pressure, and support. Embracing the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ call to abolish nuclear weapons by engaging local municipal officials in this effort is one powerful way we can add vital grassroots momentum to the global movement to get to zero nuclear weapons worldwide, especially in advance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference at the United Nations this May.
YOU can help us by contacting local officials, such as your City Council or Boards of Selectmen/women or Aldermen/women and ask them to pass the resolution calling for a nuclear weapons free world:
Resolution for a Nuclear Weapons Free Future
“Whereas the United States Conference of Mayors in 2009 voted unanimously to call on President Obama “to announce at the 2010 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference the initiation of good faith multilateral negotiations on an international agreement to abolish nuclear weapons by 2020,”
Be it resolved that the City Council of…..(or Board of Aldermen of……) adds its voice of support to this unanimous, urgent call of the United States Conference of Mayors. Be it further resolved that notification of this resolution be sent to President Obama and to our Members of Congress.

How many lives have to be lost in what you call a movement for peace. Make love not war,why is the price of freedom so high.why must children die and mothers cry why don’t you go and fight the wars if you think they are so important. War what is good for absolutly nothing. Tax the rich and feed the poor untill there are no rich anymore, greed hunger for money hungry for power start minding your own affairs and quite sticking your noses where they don’t belong and most of all may the lord forgive you for your insanity….amen
No nukes are the only good nukes. Have mercy on all people of the world,
one human family.
If the US, the richest, most powerful country in the world, takes the lead in abolishing nuclear weapons, the rest of the world, including Iran, won’t feel the need to develop or increase their own. We started it; let’s take the responsilbility and end it.
